Melamine(2,4,6-Triamino-1,3,5-s-triazine)is a fine, nontoxictic and odorless crystalline powder used in the manufcture of thousands of product worldwide. As a triazine compound, it can be reacted with formaldehyde and other chemical to form products that are durable, chemical-resistant, and water-resistant, heat resistant, as well as having many other special qualities which are applicable to adhesisves, fire retardants, vinyl floor tile, plastic laminates, concrete superplasticizer, coating, paper, polyurethane foam, rubber, platics, molding compounds, amino crosslinkers and textile application. In resin form, melamine can be used in dinnerware and beverage cans.
Melamine is white monoclinic crystal, its relative density is 1.573, relative vapor density is 4.34, saturated vapor pressure (kPa) is 6.66, insoluble in cold water, soluble in hot water, slightly soluble in ethylene glycol, glycerin, ethanol, insoluble in ether, benzene, carbon tetrachloride.
