For new or previously painted masonry surfaces as brickwork, concrete, cement and rendering. Berger Alkali Sealer is also used to bind loose chalky surfaces in order to provide a sound surface for application of topcoats. Berger Alkali sealer is recommended as a seal for areas where soil moisture moves upwards into walls and form salt deposits which damages the paint film known as efflorescence.
Concrete and cement surfaces must be completely dry The sealer will NOT prevent blistering of top coats if moisture is present in the surface Once surface is dry, remove any peeling paint with a scraper and any white powder with a dry cloth
