LEI is mainly involved in the design and supply of steam surface condenser with heat exchange ranging from about 350 M2 to over 14100 M2 (5MW to 165 MW) which are designed, manufactured & Tested as per HEI.
The design of the transition piece to achieve the most uniform distribution of incoming steam over the tube bundle. The steam from Turbine enters at the condenser transition piece and envelops the tube bundle. Adequate space will be provided for proper steam distribution by designing suitable condenser Tube layout. The steam enters in the tube bundle and moves towards the lowest pressure zone, where air cooling zone is provided to collect the non condensable gases, which are effectively sub cooled before going to air evacuation equipment. Air impingement plate is provided to protect the tubes from erosion. The steam gets condensed and the falling droplet meet fresh column of steam to avoid sub cooling and achieve deaeration level. The hot well is provided with stainless steel strainer before condensate outlet branch. A vortex breaker is also provided in the condensate outlet branch. The hot well is sized for proper retention time, Normally for 3 minutes. For corrosive environment we may provide more erosion resistant tube materials,Tube sheet cladding with reliable tube to tube sheet joint by qualified welder using qualified welding procedure. To eliminate tube vibration suitable support plates are provided, vibration analysis is carried out if required.
