These invisible light barriers work on emission of Infra-red rays which either get interrupted or reflected from the object to be sensed by the sensor.
In transmission mode,the emitters & detectors are placed in opposed mode in which the object interrupts the beam or else.In reflection mode,it gets reflected to give an ON/OFF output signal. They are available in different forms(tubular & box type)for sensing distances upto 12M in transmission mode & 1.5M in reflective mode.
